Hibernia College is delighted to announce the establishment of a new Centre for Restorative Justice. The CRJ will offer courses and services for civil dispute resolution and in particular, mediation.

The Centre’s remit will, over time, also extend to various aspects of criminal dispute resolution and in this regard quarterly research papers relating to restorative justice in its many forms will be published.  Through active research the CRJ will strive to be at the coal face of developments in this expanding arena.

Mediation expertise will also be available through a panel of Ireland’s top Mediators across the private, corporate and governmental sectors.  The Centre for Restorative Justice will act as a hub for mediation and dispute resolution providing an invaluable alternative to both in-house disputes and external litigation in a cost effective and time efficient manner.

John O'Keeffe, Director, Centre of Restorative Justice, brings a wealth of corporate and academic experience to this new role. John was an investment banker in London in the 1990’s where he was both Assistant Director of SBC Warburg and Director at ING Barings. For the last ten years he has been both Head and Dean of the Law School at Portobello College, Dublin where he taught both civil and criminal law. A journalist and criminologist he is a graduate of University College Dublin, London University and the University of Cambridge. He is also a mediator and member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
