On October 28-30th, Dr. Seán Rowland, President of Hibernia College, spoke at the LINC (Learning International Networks Consortium) 2007 Conference held in Jordan. The theme of the conference this year was “Technology enabled education: a catalyst for positive change” and the patron of the event was Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullad of Jordan.
Hibernia College is a founding member of LINC, an international initiative that began in 2001 and is managed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). It consists of an international community of individuals and organisations from 50 countries focusing on higher education and the role that technology can play in expanding educational reach. The participants’ main objective is to share best practices in order to move forward with successful distance learning projects in tertiary education in their respective countries.
This year’s conference was held outside of the US for the first time and was entitled “Technology-Enabled Education: A Catalyst for Positive Change”. Dr. Rowland’s presentation focused on quality assurance in e-learning using Hibernia’s MSc in Pharmaceutical Medicine as a case study. Hibernia’s Pharmaceutical Medicine programme was developed in collaboration with Pfizer Inc., and Dr. Rowland presented jointly with Dr. Honorio Silva, Vice President, Pfizer Inc., New York.
