This summer, Hibernia College teamed up with Camara, a volunteer organisation dedicated to educating communities in Africa through the usage of computer hardware and software training programmes.
Camara train African teachers in basic computer literacy as well as in more specialised software and approached Hibernia College with the request to deliver some of our summer courses as in-service training for teachers in Kenya. The courses that they selected to deliver were ICT in Education, English Teaching Methodologies, Infant Education and Maths Teaching Methodologies.
Camara delivered these courses over 5 weeks in Malindi, Kenya, and feedback was excellent with the Camara volunteers complimenting the organisation of the Hibernia College courses and how the online structure was “very good and clear for the participants”. The participating teachers were also very impressed with the courses and keen to learn more about how the internet can be used in so many ways in both their personal and professional lives.
Hibernia College was delighted with the successful delivery of these courses and we hope to work with Camara again next summer.
