This is a contracted position for the provision of services. The supervisor will be responsible for assisting, supporting and assessing students during teaching practice as part of the Higher Diploma in Arts in Primary Education. Vacancies currently exist in counties Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Donegal. Training will be given by Hibernia College in respect of supervisor requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Visit students during teaching practice in their school and support and guide their teaching
- Assess students performance on teaching practice
- Provide e-mail and telephone support as required by students for the duration of teaching practice
- Liaise with course leaders and students throughout teaching practice.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Applicants must be a qualified primary school teacher
- Considerable teaching experience at various levels
- Leadership / mentoring experience
- Thorough knowledge of the 1999 Curriculum
- Experience with national programmes an advantage
- Masters / postgraduate qualification.
The role of teaching practice supervisor is a part time occasional role. Successful candidates will need to be available during the school day. This role may interest suitably qualified teachers who currently are job sharing, on career break or those who are recently retired.
